Western (Pacific-Slope) Flycatcher

Western (Pacific-Slope) Flycatcher

Empidonax difficilis

This guy just started showing up in my backyard. He was always alone. His behavior reminded me of a Black Phoebe, who also is a flycatcher He's always pretty easy to spot, mostly from is eyes, the white eye ring makes his eyes look quite large.

Also, being a flycatcher, you'll see him sitting and suddenly flying in the air and returning to his spot. In doing that, he is catching flies.

Traits Include:

  • Yellow belly and throat.
  • Olive-brown back.
  • White eye ring.

Location:

Pacific-slope Flycatcher Range Map

The western flycatcher is actually two species. The Pacific-Slope and The Cordilleran. Pretty much the only difference between them, is the location where they are found.
The pacific slope is found along the coast, while the Cordilleran, is found in the Rockies.

Birding Journal

Birding Journal

I'm back! Sorry for not posting anything new in a while...I've been working on a birding journal. For a while now, I've been looking for a birding journal to  keep track of my life list. Store after store, site after site, I've turned up empty. Fed up, I decided to make my own (with the help of my mom;]).

Here's a few pictures....

I was quite pleased with how it turned out, so I decided to put it up on my Etsy shop: ( click on picture bellow).

Feel free to check it out if your interested. I also sell plain Fauxdori notebooks and Insert PDF templates.
